MERCYSHOT was formed in
Potrero Hill, San Francisco, CA, in the beginning of January 2001
originally as an acoustic act. It took just one open mic
in SF for Scott (vocals) and Len (guitar) to realize that they wanted
to plug in and rock out. Enter Micah (drums) and Kris (bass), who
were integral in shaping the band's plugged-in sound.
MERCYSHOT started working
on a home demo in late 2001. By this time, they had recorded
about 45 minutes of original material. Unfortunately, Micah moved
to Portland in early 2002 and joined a band called The Stivs, where they rocked out the Northwest coast in style.
Without a drummer, gigging was out of
the question. At this point, the band decided to take some time
off and head into the studio to finish their recordings. During the downtime,
Kris became involved in a new project and moved on.
After finishing two records,
MERCYSHOT and Formica, Scott and Len then hooked up
with Jason on drums in early 2003. Robert joined shortly thereafter
on bass.
MERCYSHOT began playing
in San Francisco at various venues throughout the city. They were warmly welcomed
at the Voodoo Lounge when they played with Celia and Security, for
their first appearance in more than a year. They blew away fans with Blown Cuda and Crumpled Napkin at the Tempest.
In 2004, MERCYSHOT again parted ways as people moved on. Len, Jason, and Robert continued with a new band called The Feeders, where they continued to rock fans throughout the Bay Area. Len recently is involved in a group called Half of Half.
Enjoy the music they put
together for you, and rock on!!
